Turpin Mennonite Church

Jul 8, 2018, Turpin, OK

Harvest is upon us. I love to drive through the countryside and watch the huge machines bring in the grain. It brings back wonderful memories of riding in the combine with my Daddy.

This year harvest brings both joy and sorrow to the farmers in our area. For some, the late April freeze came at just the wrong time and damaged the newly forming heads of grain. For others, hail has damaged the fragile wheat. For most, the long drought kept the wheat from reaching it’s potential. I’ve heard from a few farmers that the crop is better than they expected, and for that we are grateful to the Lord of the harvest.

Surrounded by wheat fields, Turpin Mennonite Church is full of faithful farmers who meet together on Sundays to worship the Lord.

On Sunday, July 8, I will be filling their pulpit.  The service begins at 9:30. Then Sunday School follows at 10:45. Watch for an update of the sermon topic soon.

To find more information about  Turpin Mennonite Church, see their website. The church is located in the country between Liberal and Turpin, but it’s not difficult to find.  To get there, go south of Liberal on HWY 83 about 10 miles.  At the intersection of Highways 64 and 270, you will see Valero gas storage tanks on corner. Turn left there and go east 4 miles to Hollow Road 1230 until you see a church sign on the corner.  Turn left at the sign and go north 1 mile and you are there!
